#1 is gorgeous, she will look fantastic in it. #2 could be boyish if you knit it in a dark blue, that way the hearts would show up but the colour would still look boyish IMHO!

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, too. I guess I should do regular buttons, too. Thanks for the input!

I like both sweaters. I would change the color and buttons of the boys too. Maybe to a green, like an emerald green?

The girl sweater is perfect! I think (having had a boy) that you would definately want to do plain buttons, or I've seen little dinosaur ones or base ball, bat & mits but I'd probably vote for ommitting the hearts all together and use any color boy yarn (not pink/purple) and then have fun with the buttons you put on it. One thing I read, esp if these are made for newborns is to not use yellow yarn b/c it makes the babies look jaundiced even if they're not. The hospitals that accept knit hats and stuff say that yellow makes them look more jaundiced than they are. Just my $.02 worth. I think if you wanted to make it interesting you could even add a cable down the sleeves and that would still be boyish, but wouldn't bore you to tears.

OT: Apple Ipod shuffles are going for $49.00 now! They were 79.00 a few days ago.

Dustina - we're sick here too. Correction...I'm sick. No one else is yet.

I got my stroller / car seat travel system last night. It's gorgeous! It's not the pink and brown one I wanted, but it's top of the line in travel systems. I lucked out and got the absolute last one Babies R Us had at $80 off...normally almost $400.

I also treated myself to some yarn porn today. I got 2 balls of Tofutsies and one from On Your Toes. I also got my daughter a ball of tofutsies...it's her first ball of "good" yarn. She wants to learn how to do socks. I figured it's a good birthday present for her. I'll take pictures later. We got color numbers #722, 723, and 721. Now I just need a good pattern to make with these.

Jenny sorry you're sick. Yippie on the baby travel system on sale! $400.00 ouch! I bought mine almost 4 years ago and paid $180.00, then when Bailey was born, Jacob was almost 2 and we decided we needed a double stroller, ouch again, that was over $100.00-I love graco products though. Cant wait to see the tofutsies! I think my color is 723-I think...I was wanting to make the no purl monkeys with it (here's the monkey pattern-and I wanna do this just turn all the purl sts to knit sts). We'll see. Hang in there Emily

Abbily...Thank You. I will need to make the rest of them at some point I only got these two done.

jberry.. I too do that with plain bread but I also add a touch of vanilla. Just food for thought. I will also check that site out for pats.

Dotty... I finally found the pages today. I also foundhttp://www.knitty.com/ISSUEsummer06/...ilianlace.html that I think I am going to attempt. I just got back from Joanns getting beads..

Thank you for the nice comps on my stitch holders.
Here is a silly question for ya all. How many of you use the Old Norwegian cast-on. Does it make that big of a difference for the top of the socks? If so do you cast of very loose too?

Okay, I've come to realize I have big feet. I knew this because I wear a women's size 10 shoe. But around my foot (at the ball of the foot) is 9 inches. Almost all the patterns I'm seeing are to fit a size 8 shoe or women's medium or something smaller than my foot. I don't want to get all the way down to the body of the sock only to find out it's too small. How can I adjust a pattern to make sure it's going to fit my gorilla feet?

Bigger needles? Try a size or two up and do a swatch (I hate swatching) to figure out what size needle you need to get 9" around instead of 8. Of course, then you have to account for the extra length too...
