It's called a Tube Sock and you just put 2" of ribbing at the top, then knit until your piece measures 14" and then start your toe decrease. You don't even have to do a kitchener stitch as they recommend that you decrease down to five stitches and then thread the yarn through those stitches and tie off. Very simple. However, for this time, I am doing a REAL sock. Perhaps another time I will make tube socks.

I will post a picture when this sock is finished for you though, even though it's a REAL sock.

Progress report: OK, you guys talked me into this. I knit my heel flap. I turned my heel. I picked up my stitches. It's all good! I distributed them as directed. So far so good. THEN I COUNTED THEM (also as directed). So, I have 25 stitches on needle #1, 32 stitches on needle #2 and 26 stitches on needle #3. Now what? I have one too many stitches. I do NOT want to visit the frog pond. Can't I just K2tog on needle #3 on that first row, or something similar that will then give me the right number of stitches?

H E L P!!!!!

I was so pleased that I was going to shape the gusset, come in and brag and you'd all be proud of me because I did it with no whining, screaming, crying or throwing it across the room. I didn't whine, scream, cry or throw it across the room, but here I am begging a solution for the fact that I obviously cannot count to sixteen when picking up stitches....

TIA

Well, here it is, my other two dyed yarns.

I'm almost done with untangling the bad yarn, and my moms socks are almost finished as well. Just have to weave in the ends and they are done. Pics of the socks will follow soon!

You did a beautiful job of dying that yarn. I especially like the all blue one. It is simply gorgeous. Nice work!!! I look forward to seeing the pic of your Mom's sox.

And now for my good news! I have a GUSSET (hmmm that sounds kind of like saying I have a goyter, or perhaps some kind of social disease)! I started this evening knitting a REAL sock instead of a tube sock. I am now at the stage of the sock where I have finished ribbing the top, knitting the leg, knitting the heel flap, turning the heel, picking up the stitches, putting the stitches back on three needles, knitting the gusset decreases and I am now knitting the foot section of the sock. I am almost there!!! Sock #1 will make it's grand entrance some time later today or tomorrow morning at the latest. And YES I will post a picture.

But for now... I pulled an "all-nighter" knitting this sock (what my DH calls a "Power Knit") and I think I should go get some sleep.

Later.......

Good Morning Socksters

Lieke~ Very pretty!!!

The.Knitter~ YAY for a gusset!!! Yep sometimes that happens...I've done that before if for some reason they want the heel turn to end with odd # of sts...and I just do a K2tog..usually where the center of the heel would be...

Jackie~ It will air here on Feb. 7th at 11am the show is Ni Hao, Kai-lan...and it will also be teaching the kids Chinese...which I find cool...cause Roo has learned some spanish from Dora...and then she has learned some Chinese from Sagwa too...Then I have worked with them both on ASL...

Carla~ how are the potawhatever socks coming ...I read in the paper that yarn is just going to be 25% off...oh well still a bit cheaper...and I was just going to get Galaway...they just won't get a big sale from me

My wrist is killing me this morning...for some reason that mitten on magic loop is really hurting me...I don't remeber the first being like this...I might have to change to dpns and see if that helps some...

I hope you all have a great day of knitting!!

Take a break Dustina. I still have to break-since I moved the kids furnature a month ago, sometimes all I have to do is set the bottle of Ranch dressing down and it kills my wrist for the rest of the night. How's your dh?

The.Knitter: Well are you well rested? I'm so proud that you've done the hard part of your first sock! Sorry I wasn't on her to give you an answer but I have sick kiddos-glad Fibrenut was able to answer you soon. No matter what the question there' s always someone on here to answer it, or lead you to an answer.

Jackie, just a few more days!!!

Dotty...if you're reading, we're missing you, & even if you're not we still miss your colorful posts. & I don't know about the others but we'd sure like to see your valentine socks...

Jacob didn't have a fever yesterday!!!!!!! However Bailey was very craby and whiny~I don't do well with whiny kids-makes me want a big Thank God everyone slept last night, I feel much rested today!
Someone has been reading my blog & wants to buy my hedgehogs...anyone have any idea what you'd sell them for? Or if you were intereseted in buying them, what would you pay for them? I'd charge the cost of supplies and then my time...any ideas? tia.
Dh is home today (day off) so I hope to get some knitting done on his sock so I'm ready for the sockamania sock ~ wonder if the pattern will be sent out tomorrow? I'm so anxious!

Oooh, Dustina, take a BREAK!!! Pain means you've gone too far. Stop immediately or you'll be like me: All trussed up in splints and able to knit only occasionally!

Julie, hope ALL the kids are healthy today!

The.Knitter, CONGRATULATIONS!

Leike, I like your yarn. PRETTY PRETTY!

SteveDallas, Nice cables! I'm putting just two cables in my Worsted socks.
