Newbie Cabled Poncho KAL?

Anyone interested in participating in a KAL for an easy cabled poncho? I am casting on this free pattern. I am still at a beginner/easy level knitting and want to knit a useful item I can wear.

I like the project. But think I'm too new for that. Cables are my next learning project. The pattern is scaring me or mabye I just can't read it right....okay, I admit...I don't understand the pattern.

So I read up on this project..and I'm in. I may ask alot of questions along the way on these forums...but it looks fun!

I'm in--- looks adorable! I may choose another yarn, though---i've used wool-ease chunky once before, in knitting a cabled scarf (a free pattern also from the lion brand website) and although the yarn felt okay while in the ball, when i knit the scarf up, the yarn wasn't soft at all, and a bit itchy.

Thanks for creating a KAL for all us newbies out here! ( and i'm excited to finally be knitting something that's NOT a scarf!)

Let me know what yarn you are thinking about using for this project. I like my projects to be super soft. So I may hunt around to for a different yarn....
