Have you tried posting this in other places like Ravelry , a local knitting group,LYS , or even your local Freecycle?
I will be happy to knit a few and send them to you but it seems as if you might need more help.
Exactly how many do you need? Knowing that you have x of the total number might get people motivated to help.
I'll send you a PM when I am done with my squares to get the address. Good luck with recruiting!!

Hi,

I have 3 done so far. I'm going to keep on making them. I was born and raised in Chicago so I would never pass up the chance to help.

Thanks
Heather

I was told the deadline for the squares were Aug 1st...is that correct?

This is what your post said:

I'm sure most of you are now all aware of the school shooting at Northern Illinois University in Dekalb Illinois. I would like to make blankets for the victims families. I am collecting squares--knit or crochet!!! The colors are black, red, and white. The mascot is a husky. After they are finished they will be sent to the school and given out. Please email me or PM me. Contact me to get the mailing address. The NIU Foundation is helping with the cost of shipping them to the families. We need enough squares for 5 families!!!We can do this!!!
Thanks
Kelly Carr
Please make them with soft yarn - something washable like Encore or redheart- and make them 8x8 squares.
The deadline for the squares is August 1.
I Challenge everyone to make 1 square a week....we need 5 blankets!!!!!!
I know we can do this!!!!!!!!!11
If interested please email me at kellycarr05@hotmail.com or check out knittinghelp.com under “charity knitting forum” for more updates!

-----------------------------------------------------
please let me know, i don't want to knit if you can't use them.
Thanks so much
Heather

Heather, you're right the deadline is Aug 1st. I'm pretty sure originally it was earlier but it was changed.

I've made 3 also. I about 6 inches into my 4th.

Kelly, love the squares so far. There were five families we are making blankets for, right? I am designing 3 designs, one in each color and should have them to you by July.

I'm making 3 designs, one for each color--red, black and white. I made block letters NIU for the black ones, a heart for the red ones and a ribbon for the white ones.

I have 5 done and plan on doing 10 more!
