Not enough sts, help!
The instruction reads:
Sleeves

cast on 27 sts
inc 1 st at each end of needle on 5th and every following 4th row 3 times, then on evey following 6th row 3 times to 41 sts, taking inc sts into pat.

The pat repeats every 8 rows.

This is how I understand it:

Row 1, 2, 3, 4, 5(inc 1 st), 6, 7, 8

Row 1, 2, 3, 4(inc 1 st), 5(inc 1 st), 6, 7, 8

Row 1, 2, 3, 4(inc 1 st), 5(inc 1 st), 6, 7, 8

Row 1, 2, 3, 4(inc 1 st), 5, 6(inc 1 st), 7, 8

Row 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6(inc 1 st), 7, 8

Row 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6(inc 1 st), 7, 8

27 sts + 9 sts = 36 sts!

Where're those 5 sts?

Work rows 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 (increase one on each side, that's 2), 6, 7, 8.

Next pattern repeat: Work row 1 (increase at each end of needle, +2 more), 2, 3, 4, 5 (increase again at each end, 2 more), 6, 7, 8.

Next pattern repeat: Work row 1 (increase each side, 2 more), 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 (increase on each side, that makes 2 more stitches), 8.

Next pattern repeat: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 (increase each side, 2 more), 6, 7, 8.

Next pattern repeat: Work row 1, 2, 3 (increase each side, 2 more)

First you increase on the 5th row and then every 4th row 3 times and then every 6th row 3 times. That is 7 increase rows and each time you increase at each of the needle so that is 14 increases. 27+14=41.

K, you should have a total of 14 stitches added (7 increases on each side)
so it would read
27 stitches
row1-4 no shaping, increase row 5 (29 stitches)
row 6-8 no increases, row 9 increase (31 sts) (end of first pattern repeat)
row 10-12 no inc, row 13 increase (33 sts)
row 14-16 no inc, row 17 increase (35 sts) (end of second pattern repeat)
you've now done your 3 increase rows every fourth row.
Now for the next bunch,
row 18-22 no inc, row 23 inc (37 sts)
row 24-28 no inc, row 29 inc (39 sts) row 24 end of third pattern repeat)
row 30-34 no inc, row 35 inc (41 sts) You will have one more row for the third pattern repeat)
That is all your increases and you get the right amoung of stitches.
Hope that helps ya hun.
