Help lining a hat

My daughter's best friend from kindergarten is moving to Seattle. I'm both excited for her and sad that she's leaving. She's been like one of my own for so long Its so hard to watch all these little chicks now taking flight from the nest. Anyway, to my question . . . Since she's moving to a MUCH colder area than where we are currently I wanted to knit her a newsboy cap and scarf. I want to line the newsboy cap with fleece to help her head stay warm. Can anyone give me some tips on the best way to do this?
