Need help finding a hat pattern with a strip
I have a friend who’s due to have a baby. The Daddy-To-Be is a big Steelers Fan. I thought it would be cute to knit the baby a hat that would mimic the Steelers helmet. For those of you non-football watchers the Steelers helmet is black with a gold/yellow strip going down the middle (from forehead to the back of the neck). I have looked into earflap hat patterns (even just a plain hat) but have not seen one with a strip going in the direction I need. Does any one know of a pattern like this? (Free or for-sale) OR does any one know how I could add a strip into a pattern while keeping the width of the strip the same size as you have decreasing in stitches at the top of the hat?

Thank you in advance for any help given.

you might be able to use the concept in this hat from knitty to make a hat that has the stripe in the right place; just ignore the color pattern they have listed and make each piece 2 colors.

This vintage 'Miriam cap' has a central panel over the top. Perhaps could be adapted with minor changes?

Or this bonnet (in StSt) could be worked with strip going down the centre.

Thanks for the links! When I finally get around to knitting this hat I'll make sure I'll post pictures. It will be awhile since it's tax season for me. Thanks again!
