Hi I am a new knitter and workng on a purse to be felted I must of dropped a stitch there is a small hole is there any way it can be fixed without starting over

You should be able to find where the stitch has run to, pick up the loop, with a crochet hook and moving up, pick up each loop and put back on the needle. The "run" will look like a ladder. It won't matter whether it is picked up as a knit or a purl, as the definition of the stitch won't show after felting.

Or since it's going to be felted, find the loop and sew it to close up the hole. It won't show.
