When I leave a 2 stitch edge on decrease rows, I always work them as st st. It makes for a nice clean edge. But you can try to work them into your pattern if you like. Because you're using a simple K5, P1 ribbing throughout the garment -- at least that's what I'm understanding here -- so all you have to do is to remember to K the K sts and P the P sts and you should be just fine.
