So I'm knitting the Harry Bear from http://www.berroco.com/exclusives/harry/harrybear.html
and have found the pattern remarkably easy and well-detailed. Tho I've had to scour the knitting videos to figure out how to do some of the increases and casting-on additional stitches at the end of a row, I'm not sure how to start on the 2nd ear in the last line of these instructions:
1st Ear: Purl 5.
Row 1 (RS): (Inc 1, k1) twice, Inc 1 – 8 sts.
Row 2: Purl.
Row 3: Knit – 8 sts.
Row 4: P2 tog, p4, p2 tog – 6 sts.
Row 5: K2 tog, k2, k2 tog – 4 sts.
Row 6: Bind off as follows: K2 tog twice. Bind off last 2 sts.
2nd Ear: With WS facing, join MC and purl 5 sts from holder.
Work same as for 1st ear.
The working yarn is on the first ear, bound-off and cut. How do I start purling the 5 sts on the holder? Do I start with the independent working MC looped around my finger and weave the tail into that just-worked row? Do I need to twist anything? Do I have it totally wrong? Am I not holding my mouth right?
