Japanese short rows
I am attempting to knit an ivy cap. I am stuck at the bill shaping because the info is not clear on where to place my w/t stitches. I'm beside myself, which is unusual for me. I have worked in pattern 104 st. Now must form brim. Pattern: the brim is worked in short rows over first 70 stitches in the round using fabric st as follows:
Row1 (rs) work. 70 sts in fabric st.
Rows2 (ws) and 3(rs). Work 3fewer sts
Row 4 and 5 work 4 fewer sts
Row 6 and 7 work 3 fewer st.
Continue working ss
Hort rows in this manner (2rows in pairs) working 2,3,2,3,2,3,4 and 2 fewer st each time ending with 8 st at row 23
Then you increase the stitches until all 70 are back in work. There are instructions on reverse short row shaping. I need HELP! What sts do I use to accomplish my wraps. I would be glad to share this pattern to anyone experienced enough to make sense of this to me.

Hi and welcome to Knitting Help!
They are unusual directions. If you can easily see the wrapped sts on each row then you can work the pattern until you are so many sts short of that stitch. In Japanese short rows the stitch is marked with a safety pin.
It also works if you count the number of sts to work between w&t's. Write it out along with the row numbers and you should be set to knit. Cross off each row as you knit. For example:
r1 work 70sts
r2 work 67sts
r3 64sts
r4 60sts
r5 56sts
r6 53sts
r7 50sts
r8 48sts
r9 46sts
r10 43sts
r11 40sts.
r22 10sts
r23 8sts
You can even include the number of sts given in the pattern that should be left before the w&t as a further check that you're at the correct stitch.
