yarn winders
Is that what they're even called?
How do you all like yarn/ball winders, and what's your favorite?

I love my winder. I have a Royal that I bought online at Joannes using a 40% off coupon. I have had it for over a year and it works great.

Yep, Royal it is. There have been several other requests for recommendations on the forum and the Royal wins it hands-down, from what I recall. I think there's one out there that can make bigger balls, but I don't remember what it is.

Royal for me, too. And used along with a wooden swift makes short works of winding hank upon hank into nice neat little cakes!

I don't have a swift, but when I need one, I make it out of tinker toys left over from when the kids were little. I do it kind of like this.
