Porn PM
Well, I didn't think anything left could embarass me like this. Just a note to the Mods that I got a "porn pm". And a warning to others, it may happen to you as well. Someone called "lollergirl".

I just got it too.....
there are board trolls everywhere. Really a shame. I posted it in the General Knitting because I wanted it to be addressed (noticed) as quickly as possible.

When this kind of thing happens please just delete it. I ended up with multiple copies from forwards letting me know. Ick. You can let us know, but forwarding the whole thing is not really necessary.
She's been banned and we ALWAYS take care of this stuff as soon as we can.

What I think happened....
.... everybody either has or knows of somebody who has a despicable connection. That despicable connection (bratty younger brother, obnoxious uncle, older sister's bff) probably happened upon someone's open KnittingHelp window, and probably their evil brain went something like this:
"heh...knitting"
"Hey, I could really rile all those people up!!!"
"How 'bout some icky pr0n, yeah, that'd be just the ticket..."
"prolly all grandmas who'll really be shocked too, cool..."
(ed.- because despicable connection knows nothing about the demographics of the Mighty Knitter Nation)
"Oh wait, if I use his/her account, s/he'll know i was messing with it..."
"lessee, i'll just make a new one with a free email address"
"hee hee, now let's get em all MAD!!!"
So, just like that bully or clown in school who tried to get you all upset, by whispering swears while you were taking a quiz, or writing stuff about you in the restroom, your parents' advice still stands:
Ignore them, and they'll go away.
I hope that this account is banned from knitting help, and the email address used to create this account is blocked from registering new ones (but I am NOT a techie and don't know if this is possible or pragmatic to do) but really, the only thing a troll wants is people hopping mad. Don't feed them by reacting.
With that said, my dad always told me, "You're made of glass. You have to stop getting so upset and cracking whenever people tease you." So, Doctor, heal thyself!
But as some might not know how to handle this, just go to Private Messages, check the BOX next to new message from someone you don't know with a suspect subject, go down to the bottom and choose Delete in the Move to... thingey. Don't even have to open it to deal with it.
A step further is to add the sender to your Ignore list. This is probably the first and last occurrence by this user name, so this is probably unnecessary. But Satisfying!
And be aware that unless we had stingers and could actually do anything to the troll (anonymity of the Internet sadly makes this almost impossible) somebody else might poke our hive with a stick to see us all swarm out.

Well, I didn't realize it was rampant. It just showed that I got it and Ingrid got it. Wish there was a report button on PM's like on posts. (Or maybe there is and I just didn't see it) so I sent Ingrid a PM (didn't forward it, figured she already had seen it LOL!)
