help with finishing a seam

I am making the Blue Sky Alpaca Eyelet Baby Blanket. It has a ruffle that goes around the edge. I am stitching up the corners of the ruffle using a mattress stitch. When I finish the seem, do I somehow knot the yarn? How do I keep it from coming unraveled?

Usually I think you would weave or thread it through nearby sts and hid the end.

So I wouldn't knot it before weaving in the end?

I think some people do, and some don't. It's up to you whatever you think works best. If you don't like it one way, undo (not the whole seam) and try it the other.
