This is my first knitting project (so far I have only been practicing). I am doing the free sheepy sack pattern on the Sheepy Time website.
Anyway, I have my gauge, have cast on the required number of stitches, then it says "place a marker and join, being careful not to twist" then you continue to K1 and P1.
I am using circular needles for the first time too. So my question is how do I place my marker and join?
I know you just put the marker on the end of the needle, right? What does it mean by join?
Thanks in advance for any assistance you can give!
If you are a new knitter I recommend the CD you can get from here with all of the videos on this site on it. It's awesome and you can access them when you're not online. I got mine last week and love it!

To join, you begin knitting. Stretch your stitches out from tip to tip, make sure they're not twisting around the needle, put the marker on the right needle and knit the first stitch on the left. Then keep going.....
