DH stayed at the Luxor for two days and nights for a family event last year, and he couldn't stand all the smoke. He could still smell it in his supposedly smoke-free room. He had sinus and throat problems the whole time because of it. It was the blazing hot time of year, so he pretty much had to stay indoors the whole time. He couldn't wait to get out of there and fly home so he could breathe fresh air again. He bought a tiny pack of Benadryl at the Luxor store for an outrageous price. Be prepared to spend a lot of money for everything you eat or might need if you are limited to that area of Vegas.

Unfortunately, you can't get away from the smoke in Vegas. To get to your rooms, you have to go through the casinos, where smoking is allowed.

It's disgusting.

Our girls couldn't stand it.

Let's face it, after twenty-plus years as a resident of Sin City living a 'normal' life there is not much I can say about the place. It is over priced, especially on the Strip, rude (just about everywhere), smoke-filled, people handing out flyers for massage, etc., parlors. There must be some 'bargains' in room rates though as everything is so competitive there. I'd stay away from the 'biggies' such as the Venetian, Bellagio, etc. If you don't care to gamble, a smaller off-Strip hotel/motel would be better. Smoke is everywhere, it is Vegas, but what goes on in Vegas doesn't necessarily mean it will Stay in Vegas as the smell(s) will come home in your clothing. Oh well, the last time I bid adieu to the place I really meant it. Have fun.

SMOKING? I hadn't thought of that! I have asthma and am allergic to cigarette smoke.. (lose my voice, get a raspy 'dead horse' type of cough)..

I think I've gotten used to the military rule of: NO SMOKING INSIDE any BUILDINGS.. it's quite nice.. but, it makes you forget that there is another world out there 'that smokes!'

Hubby and I went to Vegas years ago when we co-managed at a cd store. Though the trip was paid for by the company, we stayed at the Orleans. It was decent enough, and, from what I understand, fairly reasonable. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVED Vegas and I want so badly to go back! Unfortunately since it was a manager's convention we went to Vegas for, there wasn't a lot of free time to wander around, but, when we did, I had a blast!
