double knit vs worsted wools
I've touched & looked at many double knit wools and found that the yarn is very thin.. Just wanted to know will a 100% wool - double knit wool jumper be as warm as a 100% wool - worsted wool jumper... I really hate the cold and need something really warm.

thanks

It should be as warm, you knit it on smaller needles than worsted. It's the denseness of the knit, not necessarily the thickness of the yarn itself that would determine the warmth factor.

I think you would be happy using DK wht for your jumper. Something that long would be really heavy in worsted wht, and since you will probably be wearing something under the top, you will be warm enough I'm sure.

Ellie, a jumper is another word for sweater; it's not what we call a jumper in the US.

Fair Isle sweaters are knit with fingering weight wool and are quite warm. The denseness of the fabric makes a light-weight, warm sweater (or jumper).

I wear something under both.
