What do I do with the instruction "wrap1, turn"?

HELP!!

I am knitting a cardigan with a shawl collar, and after eventually picking up and ribbing 230 stitches I come to the instruction on
row 11 "rib 23, wrap 1, turn". Then row 12 instruction (and every alternate row) is "rib to end". Once I have done the 23 stitches, wrapped 1 and turned - where do I go then? Do I leave these 23 stitches alone on the needle, do I rib them or what? I did the other side of the cardigan - WRONGLY I now realise, but I cannot for the lie of me work out how to do it CORRECTLY!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Hey, thanks for that. Am not in the mood to try it now but will attempt it again tomorrow, but can I just check with you - do you mean you literally leave them on the needle and work off in the other direction? The next row then is "rib to end" - does this mean to include those 23, or do I still leave them alone?. Then the next row is "rib 37, wrap 1, turn" Is this getting any clearer to you, 'cos it sure isn't to me, but maybe it will all become clear when I try it? Thanks for the reply though. Oh, by the way, how do I "pick up the wraps"?

Ingrid may correct me if I'm wrong, but here is how I see those instructions:

Row 11: rib 23, wrap & turn (you will leave the 207 other sts unworked on the needle)
Row 12 and every alternate row: rib to end (so you are ribbing back across the 23 sts from the row above on this row - next time you will rib across the 37 sts to end, etc)
Row 13: rib 37, wrap & turn (you've gone past the 23 from row 11, you now have 193 left on the needle that you won't work yet

I can't explain how to do short rows (they're still a bit of a trial for me) but the videos here do help understand how to do it and how to pick up the wraps!

Thanks for the info - how to do it came to me suddenly when I was in bed last night - so just had to get up, pick the knitting up and do it - I'd got it sussed!! Couldn't put it down again then!! You have just confirmed it exacly how I did it. Why can't the pattern manufacturers actually explain what to do - I couldn't even find it in any of my knitting books - all I found was short rows for turning a sock heel - that REALLY threw me. What I should have been doing now seems SO SIMPLE!! Great to think that knitters so far away are able to help - I'm in England!!
