Eiche has to wait because I have two smaller blankets for gifts to knit first. Alita is one, but I have two other friends who are getting them. I think one is going to be Niebling's "Primel" and I haven't decided for the other one. I like "Gotthold", but I'd need to order more yarn and it would be huge. Maybe I'll do another Egeblad.

When those are finished, I think I'll do Eiche in a dark brown or rust, but I haven't decided yet. I wasn't expecting to get it! I went back and looked at the eBay listing and it was a typo. She wrote Dec 1985 instead of Sept 1985. She listed it right after Dec 1984, so it was a simple mistake to make. I don't mind because it was the perfect happy accident. When I saw the date on the cover, I couldn't believe it might be true.

Thanks for the tips about the yarn quantity. These round doilies have such diminishing returns when they get larger. So much yarn goes into circumference but the diameter doesn't grow very fast. It's hard to estimate how far the yarn will stretch.

Eiche is one of the ones I'd love to extend... would fit my table! And you're so fortunate to have the magazine! What does Gotthold look like, couldn't find any on Ravelry???

Katrina, I got in touch with "Fleegle" on Ravelry and she's helping me translate the German symbols for the Teschedecke!!! I just love the pattern!

Gotthold is hard to explain. It sort of looks like a central flower motif ending in strawberries near the edges. I can't find a photo of it to share. If I do, I'll post it because it's really a neat pattern.

Sounds really pretty with the edges...please find us a photo!

I'm finished with my rose colored Egeblad!!! Worked it with a 3/2 Egyptian Mercerized cotton and size 4 needles... it's around 29" in diameter. I'll post a picture when it's dry!

I can't wait to see a photo of your Egeblad! I couldn't find one of Gotthold so I scanned the picture in my booklet. It's a little grainy, even in reality, so it'll be fun to see how it turns out.

Oh Minou, I hate you! hehe just kidding...what a great find. I'm
still hunting for Eiche/Oak but figure I have no hurry as there is a
huge pile of "must do" patterns already sitting on my table. I keep
hoping I'll just bump into it by accident!

Be sure to post pics of your rose Egeblad Mary! I love seeing them
in different colors....

Mary,

Your Egeblad is lovely! That looks very nice in pink.

I have given in to insanity and cast on a Niebling. http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/schleuderblatt
I'm on row 6 and I already think I need to rip it back. Reading charts makes me crazy. I know I have to learn, but it seriously makes me crazy. Especially when I have to convert symbols to German, to English and then back to symbols again.

I shall overcome! (knitting needles held high!)
