Cocoon pattern?

Hi there. I am not a knitter at all so I am actually looking for a pattern or directions that I can pass along to my sister-in-law who is a knitter.
I am looking to have something like the picture made. It looks pretty basic too me but again I'm not a knitter (I'm a photographer).
Can anyone help??

That is so cute!! No I have not seen a pattern for anything like that. I hope someone has because I would love to make one.

I just did a search too. Though I have not been able to come up with a pattern, on a web thread someone mentioned that they had made one, basically using a stocking hat pattern, adjusting the size to wider around and longer. Though it didn't wrap around the head, they made a matching hat.

Came across another thread also (with links to the pic you had) where someone else did the same thing

I am not sure I know a lot about babies...but it looks as though that may not be wrapping the whole baby...I mean...it looks like a larger part of the baby might be under the fluff....

I was also wondering...could it be a blanket, just wrapped like a coccoon?

I swear it seems to me I've seen this exact item discussed here before but I can't find it!

However, looking at the picture you posted and going to the Marta Locklear Photography website and checking out other pictures she has posted with that wrap it looks like a tube knit in stockinette with large needles. She increases it as the tube moves upward and opens it up 2/3 of the way up with a button closure. Probably a m1 increase on either side of a row about every other row or every few rows so as not to create holes. I am by no means a knitting expert and have not been knitting long enough to say all this with complete certainty, but if your sister has been knitting for a while maybe she can improvise with that information.

Does what I say make any sense to anyone else? Its just my thought upon seeing it
