Cable afghan pattern
I have never knit anything for my parents (my mom's a crochetter) and have decided maybe for a Christmas/Anniversary present I would knit them a new afghan for the new couch in the newly painted family room. Nothing too huge, just enough to cover ones lap and legs while relaxing. I am addicted to cables, but cannot find an afghan pattern that I like with cables in it...any suggestions.

I MAY have a booklet at home that is cabled afghans. I'll check tonight. If I still have it, I'll be happy to give it to you.

ETA: I finally found the booklet! It isn't cables at all, but large sculptered squares that can be made into a pillows or into afghans. sorry for the misinformation.

Have you seen the Burridge Lake Aran Afghan? It's on my to-do
list. The pattern as is will make quite a large blanket but I'm sure
you could adapt it to what size you want. If you are on Ravelry you
can see it there or here is a link to the blog where you can get the
.pdf of the pattern:

Love the cable comfort throw (top link in Mirl56's post above) That was my first encounter with cables....making it for my DH (of course, it is now on the back burner - he thinks I will never finish it, lol! Truly a UFO!)

This is one of my favorites because it's reversible.
