I also just joined today, I am literally beginning to dip my toes in, my first project is a pair of socks. I'm about one inch in and hope it turns out good. I have been crocheting for about 10 yrs and have always wanted to try my hand at knitting but was fearful of the degree of difficulty. Now I am fully embracing the challenge and can't wait to see what I can do. I have found that you don't have to spend a TON of money on books, patterns etc, if you have a GoodWill, thrift store etc: you can usually find some decent patterns for beginners there. So far I am enjoying what I am learning.

I'm an absolute and total newbie... I began the extremely daunting task of learning from a book just last night. I can cast on and run row after row of basic knit stitches so far I don't have a clue what I'll try to learn next or what to do with it when I learn it, but I'm hoping skill and inspiration will come. If nothing else, I'll end up making kitten blankets for some local animal shelter

I live in Bothell, just north of Seattle. I welcome any pointers, ideas, and even criticisms along the way (be gentle!)

Hi There.
Just another newbie with needles in Puyallup.
Saw this thread and decided I'd add my name to the list of WA state.
Just picked up a set of knitting needles last week and been teaching myself stitches from You-tube videos and from clearing the shelves at my local libraries.
So far I have purchased 4 skeins of yarn and a few pairs of needles, but yet have anything to show for it.
However, I am getting Really good at the Frog stitch.
Also I am teaching myself some crochet stitches.
Looks like I'll like the feel of using the Continental method vs the English method, but I will see which one becomes more comfortable to do.
Until then...Rip it, rip it.
