Lace Scarf Needle Size??

I am using one of my lace yarn samplers (Sunkissed) to knit the Diamond Lace Scarf. The pattern says to use size 8 needles...I'll knit one more section, but it looks a little loopy. Should I go down one size (US 7) to tighten it up a bit? Have to go out and buy them, so would one size down be a visual difference? Thank you for any advice...my first time with lace..I love a challenge!

Lace doesn't look good until blocked, at least what I have heard.

As bluey said, you have to have faith that it will work out. I finished my first lace shawl a couple of weeks ago and wasn't impressed until after blocking. My hubby thought I had wasted my time and would never wear such a blobby mess. He was surprised how nice it looked after blocking.
