Im trying to undearstand http://www.knittingonthenet.com/patterns/babyafbh.htm
the pattern above
what does it mean slip 1 with yarn in back
or slip one with yarn in front
is that the same thing as slipping one knitwise or purlwise?

im confused.

You would slip both stitches purlwise, but the yarn will be either in the front or the back. They're 2 separate things kinda.

Suzee, this is something I always wonder - you were definite that it is slipped purlwise. Is that just a general rule unless otherwise specified?

Lizard Knits, this is a time when it's good to just do what the pattern says, and see how it turns out. Some instructions you can't anticipate the exact result until you work it. If it says Yarn in front, put the yarn to the front of the work (between the needles) and do the slip. Sometimes I'll read through pattern and my head swims, but if you go one step at a time and just trust the pattern, you see what is intended!

Yes, the general rule is to slip pwise unless it's part of a decrease like ssk or sl k psso. In this instance where you place the yarn while slipping has nothing to do with which way the stitch is slipped, it's just where you place the yarn while slipping.

scratch that
okay
i tried that pattern
but I think it was too hard for me
and too much
so I started making the first panel for http://www.craftyarncouncil.com/projects/baby.html
still using same yarn and same color and same needle size
Caron simply soft in soft green on size 8 circulars
