I'm a confident beginner knitter. IS the entrelac knit technique difficult?

It's not difficult at all. As long as you know how to pick up stitches, you can knit entrelac. Just follow the directions. This site has a good tutorial--

I used this project to learn entralac - it was very easy, since it gives you a dishcloth it was fast to finish and leaves you with a ueful item when done.
