tension question

When I knit my tension seems fine. The stitches are easy to work with and uniform. On the other hand, when I purl, the stitches seem much tighter. I have trouble doing the next row and I seem to separate several stitches (pick up only part or some yarn from another). This happens only after I have purled a row. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

You may be wrapping your yarn the wrong way when you purl. Check out the purl video and watch how the yarn goes around your needle. Wrapping the wrong way can tighten up the stiches.
