Spam Mail Increase

Has anyone else been experiencing an increase in the amount of 'Spam Mail' recently? Until the past week or so I would generally receive, maybe, a half-dozen or so a day and delete them. Well, don't know what the dickens has happened but am getting as many as 15 at a time. I have yet to add then up but would give a reasonable guess at 30 or more daily. ???

Everything offered from soup to nuts. Very strange.

It goes in cycles. Right now, my spam is down, but I only visit about a dozen or less sites and don't do a lot of internet cruising to different ones. That's where spambots pick up email addresses most, on the sites you visit.

criky if i get one a week its been bad. i can go a few months without any spam.

i only get knitting e mails that i want as spam type

that would drive me crazy

I find I get more on some email addresses than others. Gmail gets a lot, but they are VERY good about having it go into the spam folder. My Cox email gets maybe 6 a day. Yahoo can go from none to 25 at a time. I don't know what is up with them, but it's my junk email so it doesn't bother me. I just click "spam" and send it there hoping it'll go away.

Since spam is NOT going away I suggest getting a Yahoo or Hotmail address (or somewhere) and using it for those sites that insist on having your email. I use Gmail primarily for forums like this KH.
I would be happy if I did get only soup and nuts..it's the prescriptions, viagra and people looking for a date and worse.

Considering that somewhere around 95% of all internet traffic is now spam, the filters do a pretty good job.

Boy, I envy you. IF I only received one a week I would think something is wrong here. It just struck me as 'strange' this would increase all of a sudden. Thankfully, we have delete buttons.

Thanks for the advice, Jan. I appreciate. I do have Yahoo e-mail and maybe this will simmer down. It isn't a big deal, just the increase recently I wondered why? Oh, I too have had (not Viagra, I don't think) but dating services, free (sure) vacations, restaurant offers. I don't open so maybe some are legit but I am too cautious to take a chance. Chalk it up to modern life, I guess.

I haven't noticed a huge jump. My junk mail folder always has quite a few and occasionally few slip by the filters. You know what weird is I've been getting a lot spam from the future! I had about 10 yesterday dated Jun 9, 2038. The day before they were from 2056.

Gosh, you're lucky. I get hundreds a day. Yes HUNDREDS! Of course, I own the domain and anything addressed to @(domain).com goes to me. Two of them. People find our domain and blast out anything from webmaster to gibberish @(domain).com and it comes through. Most gets caught by my spam filter or junk folder, but a bunch still gets by. I don't want to bump my protection up too far though because I already miss good ones! (Darn Yahoo and their ads all over their email!) Oh yeah, I set up my own rules too. If you want an email to get through to me, don't include the word viagra

I also use my yahoo and gmail address for sites I don't care if I hear from again and so all spam goes to those addresses. I have my main email through my provider and only business and family gets that one. I've never (knock wood) had a spam get through on that one.
