Doily into a Tablecloth
I want to make a tablecloth but absolutely hate joining squares or motifs!! Do you think I could make one out of a doily pattern? I was thinking I could do the pattern up to the next to the last round and just keep going until I get to the size I want and then finish it off with the last round. Any thoughts?

Another alternative is find a doily pattern you like that is done in extremely small thread and needles; and use something thicker and larger needles.

The difference between doily, tablecloth, shawl is often only your choice or yarn/thread and needle size.

Do you like pineapple designs? There's one at Celtwich's site.
Go to crochetpatterncentral.com and look for "Round Pineapple Tablecloth". There are 3 listings, but this one is the 3rd one in the list.

Yes! Yes! YES! It can be done and there are many gorgeous crocheted doily patterns out there! Are you on Ravelry? If so, I recommend a group named "Doilieheads" where there are crocheters and knitters creating tons of very nice doilies into tablecloths.

I found a BIG doily that is actually a table cloth. Even better its a no sew table cloth. Its is called the Between Meals Center Piece. and I also found a big knitted one 1940's Knitted Doily.
