From a Craftster swap, I got some beautiful roving - not really my colors but something the younger folks would enjoy. To make it go farther (and tame down the neon), I carded it up with brown merino & brown shetland I had and came up with the green/brown roving in the lower right:

It spun up like this:

and I dubbed it "Swamp Thing"
I'm knitting a cabled clutch from it.

Sewed up a lining last night:

I'm going to use a magnetic snap to keep the purse closed with a button top. Found purse handles. Now to finish sewing it all together!

Here's my first hand spun yarn. It's merino & it's from the UK. The spindle is my (new, just got in the mail today) Golding 2" 0.6 oz top spindle, it's a dream!

Here's a close up of the fiber

I'll post more pics when I get one full shaft & then again after it's all plied together, not sure how to do that yet, but you gotta have a first at everything, right?!

Tami thats looking great! love it, is that the spindle from Spinsanity?

Holy cow you guys! Everything is so pretty!
I am mostly amazed at what can be made with roving that doesn't seem to be so pretty, but turns out to be gorgeous yarn!
I recently bought a houseful of roving from coppermoose.com
(serioulsy buy from him. His service rocks. You can buy direct from ebay or from his website or do what I did and hit the site and email what you want and leave a voice mail with your credit info. I love this guy)
Here is the roving that arrived in 2 business days:

African violet, lilac and mauve from left to right merino

Vanilla and purple twist from left to right. I think my fave color is the vanilla. It looks so warm!
My latest spun, merino from chamomille.connection.com bought at a fiber fest 2 ply

started out as this:
