Directions confusing increase rib row
Okay, I have the following directions that I cannot figure out:
"[b]Inc row[b] Rib 56, [inc in next st, rib 57] 3(1:1) times 115 sts.

I cast on 114 sts originally. Am I supposed to increase every 57 sts for 3 rows? What is the (1:1)?

Thanks in advance for anyone who can help with this as I have stared at it for 3 days with nothing.

Without seeing more of the pattern, it looks like you are doing 1 increase stitch in the 57th stitch and then knit in pattern across the rest of the row. The 3(1,1) is for the various sizes the pattern can be made in, small, med, and large. If you cast on 114 stitches and should have 115 stitches after the increase then you should be working with either the medium or large size.

You would inc only the one stitch right in the middle of your row. That gives you 115 sts.

Okay so here is the full text - I only included the part I was using Inc Row - Rib 22 (50:56), [inc in next st, rib 23 (51:57)] 3 (1:1) times. 97 (103:115) sts.
I am doing the largest size so I am using the last numbers. If I was using the smallest size I would increase the stitch and rib 23 three times but for the other two larger sizes I only do that increase row once? If that's it, I have it. The 3(1:1) threw me off completely!

Just stick with the numbers for your size.... Rib over 56 sts, inc in the next st, then rib over 57 sts. That's for this row. If you were making the small size, you would rib over 23 sts, inc, rib over 23 again, inc and rib over 23, inc and rib the last 23 sts. You only do these instructions on one row. What happens on the next row(s) depends on what the pattern says.
