Please help me explain this direction....

cast on 7 sts
P to last 3 sts, p into front and back of next st, p2.

'p into front and back of next st'...this means on the 5th st, i purl into front and back of next st. does this all mean purl the row? i don't know how to 'purl into front and back of next st'

All the sts on that row are purled, you're increasing in the 5th st.
