I just wanted to chime in and be a little bit of a devil's advocate/spoilsport. I personally would have a bit of a concern about germs being transferred from one patient to another via the stethoscope cover. Just something to think about/ask your sister about - the types of germs that can crop up in hospital type settings can be pretty scary, since a lot of them are antibiotic resistant.

I do think it would look really cute though, and that it's a very thoughtful idea!

If yer worried about germs n stuff you could make the cover out of bamboo yarn. It has natural antibacterial qualities. That's why it's soo good for sock yarn. Or make it out of cotton so that it's washable AND dryable.

Jan....you are amazing!! Is there any pattern you can't find??
Tara...I designed my own pattern for a "scope sock" after seeing some in a scrubs catalog. If you want the pattern, I could pm it to you. Tillie
