Since our "White Christmas" afghan is such a success, I've decided to also make blankets for charity, using yarn of different colors!
As with the White Christmas knit-along, all you have to do is knit a 12 inch square, and mail it to me. I'll seam them all together, and make blankets and lapghans.
I would like to give some of these blankets to a children's charity, so some squares can be made with bright, happy colors!
I will also make some lapghans to go to retirement centers, for our sweet older folks. So, if you only have black or white or neutral colors, go ahead and make your squares!
I'm thinking that we can make season-specific color choices for certain times of the year, like orange and black for October, or red and green for December. You get the idea. I'll be able to use whatever you send.
Each square should be made with
washable worsted weight yarn, and measure
12 inches square. The first and last 3 rows should be all knit stitches, and there should be 3 knit stitches at the beginning and end of each row. This will make a nice edge around the square.
If you need a pattern for your square, let us know, and we'll try to find one for you. If you don't feel like making a specific pattern, just make the square with all knit stitches!
If you want to participate, just send me a message so I can tell you where to send them.
If you are already involved in the White Christmas knit-along, you can just add a colorful square to your package for this knit-along!
