Hi Mary,
I just sent you another post about how I think your tablecloth is gorgeous, but I forgot to ask you something...what is an Alita? Is it a special type of tablecloth or is it the lace pattern? Just wondering how it got its name. Also is it knit from the center out on dpn's and then switch to circulars?
Thanks,
Jen

Thanks, Jen! I'm not sure about the name...Alita. I'm thinking the pattern is Danish or Swedish and it may mean something in that language. The name of the pattern is "Alita" and it is knit from the center out on DPNs/Circulars. There are tons of free patterns at Yarnover.net, including this one:

http://yarnover.net/patterns/doilies...rik/index.html

They are all free and Alita was originally designed by Erna Andersen. I'd love to know more of the history but am just enjoying the knits!

Maybe someone on KH, who's familiar with the history will fill us in!
