HELP, "blossom knit dress"
Hi there. I am new to this site and i'm hoping for some help w/ this baby wrap around dress i'm knitting. Here's what the pattern reads:
ROW 1: k4, p to last 4 sts, k4
ROW 2: k1, kfb, k to end
ROW 3: k4, p to last 4 sts, k2, kfb, k1
Repeat rows 2 and 3 until you have 36 sts, ending on a purl row
Knit 1 row
Cast on 3 sts at the beginning of the next for, for armhold shaping
NEXT ROW: P to last 4 stis, k2, kfb, k1
Continue increasing at front edge every row but w/out the garter stitch border at armhole edge until you have 54 sts.
Purl 1 row
Next row: k7, m1, k3, m1, k to last 8 sts, m1, k3, m1, k3; 58 sts

So i made it through rows 1-3 unti i had 36 sts, i've casted on 3 additional sts but now what? Do i go right into the row that says NEXT ROW? I'd be purling on "right side" which i didn't think i'd be doing. Also, where it says continue increasing i'm not sure which row i'm actually continuing w/. hopefully my question isn't confusing. This is the crossover front piece of a baby's wrap dress. Thanks all.

You're right to be confused. The pattern isn't worded very well.

You've ended with a purl row to get to the 36.

Then it says to knit one row.

I think that you should cast on the 3 stitches and include the 'Next row' directions with that--that is, purl to the last 4 stitches, k2, kfb, k1.

Since you'll be increasing on every row, continue as you have been on rows 2 and 3, but without the knit 4 at the armhole edge
