problem pattern

hello, I need help with a new pattern the first row in pattern is k14, p2, k2, p2, (k12,p2, k2, p2) across to last 12 sts, k14.
My question is do I only do what is in ( ) till last 14 or do I repeat all? If I only do what is in () then why is there no * and repeat from *.? in some other rows it does have the repeat from *

Is that exactly how it's written or did you type a number wrong. You can't knit across to the last 12 sts, then k14.

However, I would say that you repeat what's in the () because that would make each end of the row mirror each other --
Start - k14, p2, k2, p2..... and end with p2, k2, p2, k14
