One of our Oddball Pet Snuggle knitters has asked if we can start making pet snuggles with acrylic
yarn instead of cotton. She wants to use up some of her acrylic stash. (The Snuggles website says that animal shelters can use blankets made of acrylic or cotton yarn.)
The guidelines would be the same. Five knitters would each knit for five inches, so the snuggle would measure 24 x 25 inches when it's complete. We would each use two strands of acrylic yarn from our own stash, held together throughout the snuggle. They would be made with all knit stitches, so the snuggles would be nice and thick.
The first knitter would cast on 72 stitches with a size 10, 10.5, or 11 needle.
Our Oddball Pet Snuggles will all be donated to animal shelters to comfort homeless pets.
I'm happy to start some snuggles with acrylic yarn. Anyone else interested?
