Is there any standard way to turn a heel?
What if I'm not following any pattern, and need to turn the heel?

Something like:

If you have X stitches on the heel flap, slip first stitch, knit X stitches...

I know I have to knit (or purl) until there's 1 stitch before the gap...

I simply want to know how to start doing it (how many stitches?)
