Shape Neck when to decrease question

Hello to all you wonderfully helpful folks.

"Patt 21 sts, turn, and work on these sts only for first side of neck. Keeping continuity of pattern, dec one st at neck edge on next 6 rows."

My understanding:

Row 1: knit 21 stitches
Row 2: decrease 1 stitch and continue in pattern
Row 3: knit in pattern
Row 4: decrease 1 stitch and continue in pattern
Row 5: knit in pattern
Row 6: decrease 1 stitch and continue in pattern

I'm 99% certain that is wrong but it seems to work well with the pattern. Am I supposed to decrease at the end and the beginning of each row instead??? It's supposed to end up with 15 stitches so obviously something has to be done differently.

It looks to me like you should decrease one stitch on each row, but only on the neck edge. 21 - 6 = 15, so the math works out. So it should be something like this:

Row 1: Knit 21 st in pattern
Row 2: dec 1, cont in pattern
Row 3: cont in pattern, end with dec 1
Row 4: dec 1, cont in pattern
Row 5: cont in pattern, end with dec 1
Row 6: dec 1, cont in pattern

Yeah, charmican is right, it says to "dec one st at neck edge". So that seems to mean for each row. Mmhmmm

I was afraid doing them together would make it bulky and look strange but it makes sense. Thank you!
