Remember that needing meds for depression is like needing meds for high blood pressure, or diabetes, or any other physical ailment. I don't know why there is such a stigma for chemical imbalances in the brain- anywhere else they're normal things nobody worries as much about.

Wow everyone! Thanks for all your support! I am home now with my kitty on my lap and feel better already. I called my regular doc and he said to go ahead and take a pill now and then take one tonight and things should balance out. I sometimes think these "mistakes" are the way the Universe reminds me that I don't know it all. As all of you have said, this is not something to just stop (duh, I should know that by now). And I sometimes get cocky about it. My case is a case of chemistry and I need the pills to keep the chemistry balanced. Sometimes I just forget...

The best part of coming home??? The shipment of 5 balls of alpaca/silk yarn I ordered from WEBS! I ordered it to make a shawl for the friend who took me in after the surgery... it feels like pure heaven!!

Off to knit!!

Glad you are doing so well. What if we didn't have any medicine to take for depression. That would be bad. So we have to take a pill. It's worth it to me not to be depressed and enjoy my life. I am so thankful that I was diagnosed and there was something this easy to treat it. Think of this, you just had a hysterectomy and that is no little thing, no matter that you have no pain. You could be dealing with the mental side of that. There might still be a day that you can get off of them gradually, when things are not as stressful.

And it just keeps getting better! I now have no working toilet... the plumber is coming soon but I can't take a shower because the toilet has backed up into the tub... this is a problem that the landlord just won't fix permanently... Thank god it's the same plumber as last time so he knows what he needs to do to fix it.

People often get down about HAVING to take pills, feel dependent on them, and as someone who's had to take anti-convulsants all my life I understand. I went through a phase of not wanting to any more. Just know that YOUR pill taking is temporary, mine is not!

Hopefully that puts it into perspective for you.

Well, it's looking like I may be on these pretty much forever. Chemical imbalance and all means that there will be some sort of a need to take something. Sometimes I just get sick of it like I'm sure you do. I just need to get over myself about it and stop having pity parties for myself!
