what is the meaning of "across"?

I have a question in reading the pattern insturction for a Scarf
" P1,K1 across until last two stitches " Do I jz repeat P1,K1 until last two stitches?

"across" means you should knit according to the last direction till the next one. In your case, P1,K1 until stated otherwise (till last 2 sts).
