Crochet Doll Dresses

I got an e-mail this morning from Annie's Attic letting me know they were having a sale on doll dresses...I would love to make some for my daughter but I've only done granny squares, book mark, and dish clothes

Would I be able to make these for Christmas gifts for her and her cousins?

Um, any one (or few) in particular?

You would need a large crew of crocheters to do all 117.

Some I would guess to need advanced techniques, such as those with flowers and intricate lace work (especially the lace ruffles). Others are simply layered and would only need beginner to intermediate crochet (in the round) experience (like lace doilies).

Granny squares are as good an introduction to crochet in the round as any. It teaches both increases per round (to lay flat) and shaping.

Lace doilies might be a good transition or parallel project for learning some techniques that might be needed.

More I can not say without addressing a specific doll-dress.

December looks to be the easiest of the 3 while February looks to have some front post work on the skirt and would be the hardest.

I say get one to try and go for it.

They are all gorgeous! Wish I could do that. I've made bed dolls but only in worsted weight yarn. Thread crochet has been a challenge for me. My tension isn't even and I have trouble seeing the stitches (poor eyesight). I've made just one doily my whole life and I don't know how I managed that. Anyway, yeah, just jump right in and December looks the easiest. If you've never worked with thread before, practice a little by making granny squares with it. When you get your tension down you're on your way! Good luck and make sure to post your FO.

Size 10 crochet thread is similar to lace/fingering weight yarn. So If you've done lace work or some socks you should be okay.

I've done a bookmark in the thread but I didn't even look at what the dresses was made with, eek that makes me a bit nervous...

I'll post it if I get them done...it might be next Christmas the way it's going here
