I'm trying to use twice as much stash yarn as new yarn, and so far reality is helping me keep to this goal. I need some dark green soonish to finish a project (and I've been good and worked out what other projects on my todo list need dark green so I can buy in one go and not have any orphans left over), but so far haven't been able to get to the LYS (And they've moved even closer to where I live, oh the temptation).
I haven't even had the dog to walk down there as she's been on holiday's at the beach!
Oh well, Maybe I can count the 2 used skeins for the log cabin blanket, even though that's not a FO yet.
And yay for an organised stash. I've found some yarn that is the right colour so now I also have less to buy.
Hmm, Buying less and Using stash... maybe I should count these skeins twice when they're used up

My goals are small, but so is my stash.

I want to fit all my yarn into the bottom of this box:

I want to put all my needles and accesories in the top:

The first time I filled it, I didn't pack the yarn too tight because I remembered that you aren't supposed to wind tight balls.

Since then I have taken everything out -- to photograph and stash on Ravelry -- and I squished them in tighter because I was reminded earlier in this thread that it is okay to squish yarn. So the grey yarn in pictured in the top tray is now stored in the bottom.

I still have other yarn to fit in there -- except for the yellow and pink balls shown in the top tray, I haven't been putting any of my "new" yarn in there -- but I'm well on my way to fitting it all, plus I have room for my needles in the top now! (They aren't there yet since I'm still working out of two boxes, but I'm getting closer to my goal.)

If you can see the green, peach, tan and grey yarn, those are what I'm putting into my Log Cabin. I'm not sure about the grey, but I think it will be interesting to try.

Hi Lil Mom! Well, that's my goal. No yarn. I have so much stash in 'yarn jail' I could knit til death do us part...and there'd still be a car load of yarn for my kids to huck into the Goodwill bin!

Or they could send it to me... Ill give it a very good home...

I finished the first mitten for my dd... going to cast on the second one today and I'm hoping to get about 1/2 done with the border of other dd's pi shawl border.

I'm working on a pair of socks for me and I was worried that they were too big but I put them on some crochet thread and tired them on and they are perfect... yea! so knit on for me... I do like the way they are coming out, it's a self striping yarn.

Even one is making good progress, it's fun doing this together

Oh crap. I had to BUY some bulky-weight black wool for the border on my Jamaica Log Cabin.

Only black will set-off the riot of colors.

I only have a tenth of a skein in black in my stash.
Not enough; not the right weight.

So much for goals....

Well, on the bright side...I didn't buy yarn for a project in the first place...
only to finish a stash project in the second place.

Well, I used up a BOATLOAD of stash yarn for two log cabin blankets! WhooHoo!

This one used chunky/bulky stash yarn.

3" black border isn't completed but the yarn for the border had to be purchased and isn't here yet!

This one used worsted weight stash yarn, an all stash blanket!

Ooops. I kinda maybe sorta bought some yarn.
Nine skeins worth.
But I've used Five in my Log cabin blanket. So when I finish that, not counting any of the other skeins I'll use in finishing it, It'll be only Thirteen more skeins to catch up with my goal.
Gee, when I put it that way...

I bought a skein of yarn yesterday -- but just one! I've been wanting to try my hand at an infant hat and the baby yarn was on sale at Michael's this week.

Personally, I though I showed great restraint because I never buy less than two of anything, but I picked up one and only one. Baby hats are small, right? I would think one would be enough for a trial run.
