I'd like to join!! I have two afghans OTN-one is definitely *not* seamless, though! But the squares are so easy, hopefully the seaming won't be too bad! I've got 13 out of 36 squares finished, so I'm already off to a good start.

I also have an incomplete afghan I bought for $2.99 at Goodwill~Its in pretty blues and greens, and its a crocheted ripple pattern with no directions (of course! ). I love the colors and its thick and cozy. The blanket is probably 1/4 to 1/3rd finished, and anyway, it was SUCH a great deal (looks like there's plenty of yarn-marked $5.99 a ball from Hobby Lobby), I can't WAIT to finish it!

Can I join, even though my squares afghan isn't seamless? I think I have enough stash overall to keep me busy for YEARS

Hi Hilary! Of course you are most welcome to join us! Maybe you could seam up the squares you have already made...for example....seam 4 blocks per width/strip...seam together additional 4 block wide strips...seam as many 4 block widths/strips all together as you can...and then pick up stitches from the top edge and finish the blanket in the seamless 'intarsia' style.

Just a thought!

I sorted through my yarns last night... the one recurring thought: I have an awful lot of red heart yarn considering I hate knitting with it... I also have a fair amount of baby yarns too...

how does everyone store their yarn? We just moved and I want to make it more organized... I know I want a place for all my charity yarns... (ones that I use for the oddball baby Blankets and ones that I bought as a gift to send to people)

And I'd like some way to keep yarn for projects together, like the 2 afghans I'm making now... and the mittens, ect....

Any ideas?

I store ALL my yarn in these clear plastic zippered bags.
This is a size medium bag...and you can see how much yarn it will hold. I also use the small bags which will hold 10-15 skeins of dk or worsted weights.

It is good to keep your yarns in zippered bags to prevent moths and spiders, etc. from setting up shop!

I went and bought some rubbermaid carts with the clear drawers (9 bucks each at target) and I have my yarn sorted: baby yarn, caron simply soft, Red Heart, Cottons, bulky, misc.

I have the smaller storage bins for my projects as well as assorted bags for my projects on the go.

OK, not only am I going to have to stay away from Elann.com (except to use my gift certificate), Knitpicks and eBay, I am also going to not have to look at the yarns people have to sell on Ravelry. Because I just got 6 skeins of this:

for 35 dollars. Doesn't seem like a great price until you look at the yardage. It's so nice to work with! So after that, I have to be good. Even though it's not quite 2009 yet. I just had to get that last bit of yarn buying out of my system.

Boy you are right they aren't expensive, really could be a better deal unless they PAID me to take them...



But look your review is there! That's cool! I'll check back at them later, right now I keep mine in the plastic tubs with the locking lids, that's what worked where we were before, but I have more space now and I'd rather have them more organized... oh and they are all in ziplock bags too.

I have enough yarn that I think I'd fill at least 3 of those carts... ... but that's why I'm here right?

I use Ziplock bags to store like colours, then keep them in plastic tubs, and have a storage bin of UFO's/PiW, and a rollar tub under the bed with jumper/sweater WIP's. Oh and a Paper gift bag of current projects that gets rotated with my backpack (I think I've got most of them now. I hope.)
Currently my stashgan yarn is teasing me. 2 more days, 2 more days.
Oh no! two more days and my stash-busting rules kick in! must buy now while I still can!
In the mean time I have a garterbloodyscarf to try to get finished. *Sigh*
