chenille yarn for teddy bears

Is chenille yarn good to make knitted teddy bears? I figure it will be soft. Mighty Dollar has it for $1 and I thought about the Austin Bear.

I think chenille yarn would be perfect for the teddie bear, being that you usually can't see the stitches.

My only experience with chenille was that it unfortunately shed a lot. But the, it could have been the brand I was using. (Lion Brand). Maybe you could get just one skein, make some swatches and see how it holds up. Or even more skeins, because at that price, what do you really have to lose?

I did it once...it was not good...for me anyway....

I used lion brand prints....and there were big gaps in my bear...you could see his stuffing through everywhere....

It might work if you used a lighter weight of chenille, but in my experiences, it gets...well...it just doesn't shape well for me...

So...from my experiences, I would say no...chenille sucks for teddy bears....I will never use it again....
