holes in M1
I am a novice knitter. When I make an M1 stitch, it leaves a hole associated with it that I cannot figure out how to get rid of. I am making a sleeve for a sweater but I don't like the hole left by the M1 stitch. Any very specific so that I can 'follow' your counsel.

There are a lot of different ways to do a make 1 increase, so I'm not sure what's going wrong here. But I know that when I do a make one, if I don't knit into the back of the stitch I just made, I will end up with a hole.

Also, some types of make 1s do produce a small hole, so it may be that you aren't doing anything wrong.

There are a lot of videos here that tell you how to do various make 1s.
If at first you don't it and try again!

If you use a YO for an increase that will leave a hole, but you can work into the back leg on the next row. With a M1 where you lift the yarn between 2 sts, you have to make sure to knit it through the back leg so it makes a twist. Sometimes the holes look noticeable even with the twist, but when you wash/block it when done, it should even out.
