How do I make a top down yoke sweater?
I have seen many top down raglan patterns, but no top down yoke patterns. Does anyone have advice about how I would make one? Thanks in advance to those who respond. If there are any free top down yoke patterns out there, I would love to see them.

Since you are asking about a pattern, not help with one, I moved the post here.

Here's a 'recipe' for a top down yoked sweater.

And a few patterns - One of them may be bottom up.. not sure.

There's a yoke sweater pattern generator at the Knitting Fiend site. Unfortunately, it seems to be down now, but try tomorrow.

JWS Top Down Yoke Sweater
Thanks for these tips. I have a question about a pattern:
What does she mean by Yoke Depth 1 [blank inches] etc.
Here are the parts I don't understand:

4. Knit until length from ribbing is Yoke depth 1______inches, then increase to Neck3_____sts.
5. Knit until length from ribbing is Yoke depth 2_____inches, then
increase to Neck4 _____sts. 6. Knit even until length from ribbing is Yoke depth (final)_____inches.
Yoke is now complete. Divide as follows:

These all refer to the measurements you took, there's Yoke depth 1, 2 and Final. One is called Neck 1, another is Neck 2, and also Neck 3 and Neck 4. The ____ part is where you filled in the measurements.

So if my neck yoke depth 1 is five inches, then I would knit until the ribbing is 5 inches?

You don't knit the ribbing until you get to Yoke Depth 1. You knit ribbing for 2", then switch to stockinette and knit until you've done YD1 after the ribbing.
The formula is - 0.30 x 0.25 x Z = ____ If Z is 40" say, then that comes out to 3". If yours is 5" then knit the 2" of ribbing, then another 5" with the increase rows in there. At that point you do another inc row until the length from the ribbing is at your Yoke Depth 2 number.
