Christmas Stocking Heel

Hello,
I love making christmas stockings and have been making so many that I feel I'm finally perfecting my pattern. To make my heels on the stockings, I do it like I would do a normal sock but I know that there are different ways to do a heel for a christmas stocking that are less bulky. Does anyone know these other methods beside doing it like a real sock? One that would make it round and less bulky? I hope this question makes sense.
