NORO "Aurora" to block or not to block?

I just finished a scarf using NORO "AURORA " Yarn. Frankly, I don't understand all the fuss about NORO Yarn. I found it to be scratchy,stiff and rough to knit with. Anyway, I have never blocked anything and I wonder if this particular yarn needs to be blocked in order for it to soften up? The label says dry clean. Does anyone have experience with NORO and /or blocking that could offer some advice? Thanks.

Yes you can handwash, that seems to soften it up, some people put a small bit of hair conditioner in the rinse. I've never used a Noro yarn, it feels much harsher to me than the roughest acrylics I've ever used. It has really nice colors which is why people seem to love it.
