pattern help.. confused
what does this mean?
*(k1,p1) 3 times, *k4,(p1,k1) twice. Rep from * to last 3 sts, then k3

is it saying to do

k1p1 3 times, k4, p1k1, k4, p1k1, then k1p1 3 times, then k3.

or to do

(k1 p1), (k1 p1), (k1 p1)- k1 k1 k1 k1 - (p1 k1), (p1 k1) and you do that over and over until you have last 3 stitches on the row and that you knit

Your second one is correct, I think.

What is throwing me off is that there are three asterisks in the line of instructions. I wonder if there is a typo in the instructions. Can you link to the pattern?

It is a bit confusing since it's not really clear which * to go from. A picture of what it's supposed to look like would help, too.

Almost, you won't repeat the first set of k1, p1 only repeat after the k4 part. I think. Yes a link to the pattern or a picture would help.
